What is necessary

Your browser receives the files needed to display the site. Our host and service endpoints process network information to deliver pages and help secure the service. Local browser storage remembers an enabled preference for 180 days and an opt-out until you change it or clear storage. This preference is not an advertising identifier. Blocking all local storage means we may ask again on a later visit.

Quiz comparison

When a quiz comparison is active, this browser may be assigned one of two quiz experiences. Local storage named moonfig.quiz-v2-v5 remembers only the A/B choice and its expiry for 30 days. It contains no visitor identifier, email address or quiz answers. We measure numbered steps and accepted signup responses by version, subject to your analytics preference. A saved opt-out prevents new assignment and measurement. Clearing storage or using another browser can change your experience.

Remembering your website experience

When you open /start, the first-party moonfig.landing.v1 cookie remembers that website layout for 30 days. Returning to the homepage in the same browser takes you back to that experience. The cookie contains only the layout name and its expiry date, not an IP address, visitor identifier, campaign details, email or quiz answers. It does not enable analytics. Clearing this cookie or using another browser resets the preference.

What is optional

PostHog cookieless measurement starts on page load unless you have opted out. It counts pages and numbered quiz steps, including starts, step completion and quiz completion. The banner explains this measurement; clicking OK is not required to start it. It uses cookieless measurement with no person profiles, persistent analytics visitor ID or automatic click capture. Technical and network information can still be processed by PostHog in the United States; cookieless does not mean no data is processed.

Analytics event properties exclude email addresses, free text, quiz answers, selected topics and results. Replay visibility is described below. We retain only reviewed public source, campaign and creative labels; all other query-string content and advertising click IDs are excluded. Separate optional Meta signup measurement is described below; it is not part of PostHog analytics. Permission to send marketing emails is separate from permission for website analytics.

Session replay within analytics

Masked session replay is part of website analytics and starts automatically on our homepage and quiz landing pages unless you have opted out. PostHog records navigation and delays, using temporary identifiers held in page memory. The single analytics control in Privacy inside the quiz or Cookie preferences turns events and recordings off or on together. No analytics cookies or persistent visitor IDs are created. Recordings show quiz questions, selected choices, results, navigation and signup screens. Email, password and free-text values, including custom words and handwritten initials, are masked. Technical exceptions and console errors are captured with input values redacted, alongside network timing and status. General console logs, request headers and bodies are not recorded. Recording URLs have query strings and fragments removed. Processing takes place in the United States, with the current project retaining recordings for 30 days. Stop recording at any time in preferences. Earlier visits cannot be recovered. Visits with analytics turned off are not recorded. Turning off analytics also stops recording. These controls apply to the website; app replay remains disabled.

Choose, or change your mind

Preferences opens the settings panel, where Turn off analytics stops website measurement. Privacy inside the quiz offers the same control without leaving the quiz. OK acknowledges the notice and keeps measurement enabled. Cookie preferences in any Moonfig footer lets you switch measurement off or on. Closing the preferences panel without saving leaves your existing choice unchanged. The website remains usable without analytics.

Withdrawing permission stops new website analytics events. It does not erase information already sent; contact privacy@moonfig.app about access or deletion requests. An opt-out remains effective in this browser until you change it or clear storage. Clearing storage or using another browser returns to the default cookieless measurement. These website controls do not change the app’s separate analytics configuration.

Our Privacy Policy covers the app, AI processing, waitlist, providers and your rights. This page describes the current website configuration. New trackers or materially different purposes need a fresh review of the notice and consent controls before activation.

Optional Meta signup measurement

The signup form offers a separate, unchecked choice to help measure our ads. Only if you choose it and your signup succeeds do we load Meta’s advertising software and send one Lead event during this page visit. The event does not include your email, quiz answers, chosen topic, result or private writing. Meta still receives the page address, public campaign parameters and browser/network information, and may use advertising cookies and an ad click identifier to match the signup to an ad. Processing may take place outside Canada, including the United States, under Meta’s Privacy Policy. We do not enable automatic page-view events, automatic event detection, advanced matching or server-side Conversions API. A saved analytics opt-out or Global Privacy Control prevents this measurement. The choice is not remembered for a later page visit and does not affect signup or access to results. Turning off analytics stops further measurement in this page; it cannot recall information already sent or remove Meta cookies. Use your browser’s cookie controls to remove those cookies and Meta’s privacy controls for its use of information. Accepted signups can include an email already on our list; this event is not a purchase or a count of new customers.
